Although I am no longer posting my elaborate posts, I still have a cache of photos from Carmel that I would love to share with you. So here goes….
From February to September, the California poppy graces California landscapes and gardens. The foliage is ferny and the bloom bold and cheerful.
It is used as a herbal remedy and the pollen was used cosmetically.
In 1903 it became the state flower of California.

I always look forward to your posts Linda, whether they be elaborate or a straightforward one regarding our lovely state flower. I have loved poppies since I was a little girl.
Oh I’m so happy to see your post once again. Keep them coming when you can! The Poppies are so beautiful.
Oh thank you Linda! I sure miss your posts. I was Googling Carmel gardens this week to get my fix and then here you are. I live in New Zealand and am getting over a head cold. My California Poppies have just finished for the summer, so this post has brightened my day. I love California Poppies and they remind me of our trips to California. We are currently renovating our home and naming it “Calpops Cottage”. How apt. We hope to return to Carmel in November.
Just beautiful!

What beautiful responses… you sure have made a difference in people’s lives, inspired so many and cheered so many in such a simple way. Thank you from the bottom on of our hearts! We wish you love, health and happiness. xx
Linda, I was so thrilled so see your post in my inbox! Your blog helped nurture my love of Carmel, and I’m lucky to get to visit once or twice a year when I visit my daughter in Salinas. Hope you’re doing well and I look forward to more from you.
Dear Linda: I enjoyed every minute of hearing from you once more through the beautiful “Post”. You and your work are both treasures! The enduring beauty of the Carmel photos and comments nurish the soul. My husband and I first visited Carmel shortly after we were married and stayed at Stone House when it was listed as a Guest House. We loved it even then although it was decorated with heavy brown velvet drapes. Nothing could hide the comfort of the house, however with its beautiful solarium, large fireplace, curving stairs and cozy rooms. We were to visit there for over 45 years as it changed hands. Bruce and I were married for 51 years. Stay well and thank you once again.
