I often admire a beautiful home on the corner of Ocean Ave. and Scenic.  I peek through the ivy covered fence and notice it is being remodeled. It already looks more than perfect to me.

Construction commences and the results are still protected from prying eyes by the ivy.  I long to see more.

One morning while reading the Pine Cone, I chance upon a section on luxury rentals in Carmel and there is my gorgeous home complete with interior photos. Wow!!

The owners have created a spectacular home on an oversized lot.

What was once a grass lawn is now several inviting garden patios with statuary,

meandering paths,

A hot tub

And reflecting pool

All overlooked by a series of porches and balconies.

The decor is Spanish with generous use of brick and wood floors, stucco walls, warm colors and beamed ceilings.

The formal living room uses these elements in such an inviting way. I love the arched windows and doors.

In the library, lights over the bookcases and window wash the ceiling with a warm glow.

The family room opens to the garden patio with the fountain.

The chefs kitchen has yet another fireplace. (The home has four fireplaces). Dishes fill decorative niches beside the sink.  The heavy beams, brick floors and wooden island add to the rustic feel.

The cooking area is well designed and the dining area very inviting.

And look at the private patio right outside the kitchen door.  Who could ask for a more beautiful ceiling than the one provided by the vivid red Bougainvillea .

The master bedroom boasts the 4th fireplace,

A covered balcony with an ocean view,

And a large bath

With its own small balcony and spectacular view of the grounds.

The home has three other bedrooms. Each with its own bath.

Each charming.

As with other Carmel rentals, this is only available monthly.

Pretty dreamy. What a treat it would be to take a month here and experience Carmel and the surrounding areas.

You had me at Hello. Brick floors, arched doorways, balconies, these are my most favorite of all. I hope you can rent the place yourself sometime and enjoy.

I’ll be staying at a beautiful rental starting next week, actually not far from this spectacular place. I will take a look, and promise not to be jealous — just lucky that I am back in my beloved Carmel, if only for a short stay. I am going through all your blogs again to make sure I don’t miss a single nook or cranny you have so graciously and artfully shared with us.
