It is Sunday and I am out and about in the car running errands. On my way home I meander around the hilly neighborhoods north of Ocean Ave. Oh no, a darling open house and I have NO CAMERA. How did this happen?
Never the less, I can not pass this one by. Just too cute. So in I go. Later I find these pictures on the website so I can share the house with you. Whew….
The little cottage is immaculate. The formal front garden is charming.
The realtor greets me at the front door and walks me through. The home is owned by an artist and much of her art is in the home.
The knickknacks shelf I see in the dining room , cleverly hides a closet. We open the door carefully.
The living room has a Carmel stone fireplace and charming front window. As is so often the case in the cottages, light streams in through multiple exposures.
I vow to arrange my bookshelves in this orderly and artistic way.
The kitchen is perfectly organized. I love the dining niche in the alcove.
Much is “old Carmel” but with just the right modern touches such as the gas stove and stainless steel fridge. Hum…… I don’t think I can reach that microwave oven.
The first bedroom up the stairs is a guest room.
I love the soft sage green
And the private balcony overlooking the front garden.
I go up more stairs to the master bedrooms set under the eves.
It has a step up bath.
But I have not seen it all. The realtor sends me out the back door
Through a garden
To the guest cottage
With its dutch door
Small gas stove
What a nice way to give guests their privacy.
Back out through the garden
And the front gate.
And as for my missing camera, I vow never to leave home without it.
