Promises Kept
In vain, I looked for a positive quote about Promises Kept. It would seem that promises are more easily made and broken, than kept. So it is a wonderful and rare thing to see a sign in someone’s yard announcing PROMISES KEPT.
I always have to stop and take a photo when I pass this home in Carmel. The owner is a collector of garden ornaments and obviously has lots of fun arranging them into vignettes.
The flowered bird house is moved often. Each time I go by , it is in a different spot.
Some things change with the seasons. Here the Bear is celebrating Halloween by holding small pumpkins.
Bunnys seem much-loved. This one is usually wearing her gingham bow.
One of the few scenes that stays the same is this sporty guy with the sunglasses standing outside his little home to “catch some rays”.
Trompe d’oeil painting is very popular in Carmel and used charmingly here climbing up the side of the house and disguising the meter.
Every inch of this garden enjoys the fun.
Pots are lovingly cultivated.

Now I understand why Longears is so much work: I need a boy and girl! Or maybe a dozen!
About “Promises Kept”. When my mom and dad got married, they went to the Highland Inn in Carmel on their honeymoon. My dad promised my mom that they would have a place there someday. Well, he kept his promise and thus the name of the cottage where they live.
